A tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) has called at the floating LNG terminal in Lubmin for the first time, marking a further milestone in Germany’s rushed transition to alternative sources of energy away from cheap Russian gas. The Coral Furcata moored at the terminal in the industrial port there on Friday, Stephan Knabe of the company Deutsche Regas, told dpa. The LNG that the vessel is carrying is to be used primarily for cooling down the terminal’s systems and for technical tests, he said.
