The Leipzig Museum of City History is devoting a new exhibition to the musical life of the city during the Nazi era. The museum says its exhibition “Swastika and Clef” shows in nine thematic areas that Leipzig’s musical institutions – such as the St Thomas’s Boys Choir, the Opera and the Gewandhaus – were often sympathetic to the regime. The exhibition also looks in some detail at the lives of some of the artists of the time.
