German federal prosecutors said on Thursday they had arrested an employee of the BND foreign intelligence service on suspicion of treason, accusing him of passing information to Russian intelligence. The Karlsruhe-based prosecutors said the case concerned state secrets and that the offence had occurred during the course of this year. The man, a German citizen, was arrested in Berlin on Wednesday.
