Telecom providers in Germany may be fined by the national regulator for failing to expand their networks by a certain deadline. “The Federal Network Agency currently intends to impose a fine of up to €50,000 ($54,300) per location,” the Bonn-based authority wrote to its advisory board in a document seen by dpa. The letter is referring to sites that should have been built by the end of last year, based on commitments dating back to the 2019 frequency auction, but have yet to be completed. “In addition, penalty payments may also be levied,” the letter adds.
