German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke out in favour of gas imports from Iraq during Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s first visit to Berlin on Friday. “Unlike in the past, we will not make ourselves dependent on individual suppliers, but we will mobilize many others, cooperate closely with them,” said Scholz at a press conference with al-Sudani. “Iraq would be a very welcome cooperation partner for us in importing gas and oil to Germany,” added Scholz.
