Olympic champion Alexander Zverev defeated Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters. The match was full of ups and downs for both players, but Zverev took his third match point after two hours to celebrate a successful start to the clay court season. “I couldn’t be happier. It felt bad sometimes, to be honest. He never let me play my game and find my pace,” Zverev said. The German will face Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in the second round on Wednesday.
