NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced fresh negotiations over the level of defence spending, saying that some members wanted to raise the current minimum level. “Some allies are strongly in favour of turning the 2% goal into a minimum target,” Stoltenberg told dpa at the turn of the year.
