A US animal rights activist was arrested after authorities found her walking a calf in the middle of Red Square in Moscow, Russia’s TASS state news agency reported on Wednesday. The woman, 34, told police she wanted to show the animal the city centre, TASS said. She was arrested on Tuesday and was found guilty of violating the right to assembly as well as resisting police officers. The activist was fined 20,000 roubles ($285) and given 13 days in jail.
